Induction cooktop under repair with the touch control board exposed in a Highlands Ranch home

Cooktop Repair

Cooktop Repair for Induction, Gas & Radiant Tops

A premium cooktop is meant to last a decade or more and sip energy while it does it. When one zone goes cold or the igniter clicks forever, that investment stops paying you back.

We repair induction, gas and radiant cooktops so they run efficiently again, rather than pushing you toward a replacement you do not need.

Protecting a Long-Term Investment

A high-end cooktop is not an impulse purchase, and it is not designed to be disposable. Built well and maintained, an induction or sealed-burner gas top will serve a Highlands Ranch kitchen for twelve to fifteen years while converting more of its energy into cooking heat and less into a hot kitchen. That efficiency is the whole point of buying premium in the first place.

The trouble is that a single tired component can quietly erode all of it. A weakening induction coil forces the board to work harder for less heat. A gas burner with a partly clogged port burns richer and slower. Left alone, these faults nudge owners toward an expensive full replacement long before the appliance has actually reached the end of its life.

Our approach is to repair the one thing that failed and return the cooktop to its original, efficient operation. That keeps a serviceable appliance out of the landfill and keeps money in your pocket.

What Your Cooktop Is Trying to Tell You

Each of these symptoms maps to a specific part. Reading them correctly is the difference between a targeted fix and a needless replacement.

A zone or element won't heat

One cold spot while the others work points to a single failed surface element or induction coil, or a dedicated relay on the control board, not the whole cooktop.

Induction won't detect pans

If magnetic cookware still triggers no response, the sensing circuit or the coil itself has lost the ability to confirm a pan is present.

Igniter keeps clicking

Endless sparking on a gas top usually means moisture across the electrode or a spark module confused about which burner to fire.

Cracked glass surface

A fracture in the ceramic top is often a replaceable panel. We check whether the crack reached the wiring beneath before quoting the glass.

Error codes appear

Codes flag overheating, a shorted sensor or a dropped coil. They narrow the search rather than condemn the appliance.

Controls are unresponsive

Dead touch controls trace to the touch control board or a spill that crept under the glass and interrupted the ribbon connection.

Quick Answers

Why won't my induction cooktop detect the pan I'm using?
Induction only powers a zone when it senses ferrous cookware, so a non-magnetic or warped-base pan is the first thing to rule out. If a magnetic pan still fails, the induction coil or its sensing circuit on the control board is the likely fault. We test coil resistance and the board's pan-detect signal on site to find which one gave out. Reach us at (303) 729-0972.
My gas cooktop igniter keeps clicking even after the flame lights. What's wrong?
Continuous clicking usually means moisture or spilled food is bridging the spark electrode, or the spark module is misreading which burner needs ignition. Cleaning and drying the burner cap and electrode fixes many cases; a shorted igniter switch or failing spark module explains the rest. A $89 diagnostic pinpoints it so you are not left listening to that tick all evening.
Is a cracked glass cooktop worth repairing?
Often it is. On many models the glass top is a replaceable panel, so a cracked surface does not have to mean a whole new appliance, and the elements or coils beneath it are usually fine. We assess whether the crack has compromised the wiring below and quote the glass replacement from there. Book online at https://nexfield.pro/crm/book?u=33.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fix a single dead zone without replacing the whole cooktop?

Yes, and that is usually the right call. A dead zone typically traces to one surface element, one induction coil or a single relay on the control board, all of which can be replaced individually while the rest of the cooktop stays untouched.

Do error codes on the display mean the cooktop is finished?

Rarely. Most codes flag a specific condition such as overheating, a shorted sensor or a lost coil, all of which are serviceable. We interpret the code, verify the cause and repair the part responsible.

My touch controls won't respond. Is that expensive to fix?

Unresponsive touch controls point to the touch control board or its ribbon connection, sometimes disrupted by heat or a spill that seeped underneath. Replacing the board restores full function; the exact cost is confirmed after inspection.

Will a repair really save energy compared with a new cooktop?

A cooktop running on failing components often draws power inefficiently or heats unevenly. Restoring the correct coil, element or control lets the appliance return to its designed efficiency, which is far greener and cheaper than manufacturing and shipping a replacement.

How soon can you come out?

We perform repairs daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and answer the phone around the clock. Many Highlands Ranch cooktop calls are scheduled for the same or next day depending on parts.

Called just before six in the morning fully expecting to leave a voicemail, and a real person picked up. Our garage freezer had quit overnight in the June heat with half a side of beef sitting in it — the condenser fan had seized solid, and he already had the replacement with him, so it was done in one visit. Not a thing thawed, and he was decent enough not to comment on the state of the garage.

I had already started pricing new dishwashers. Every glass was coming out of the Miele with a chalky grey film on it and nothing I ran through the machine made any difference. The real culprit was our hard Douglas County water: scale baked hard onto the heating element, and a spray-arm bearing worn enough to wobble. He descaled it, fitted the new bearing, and corrected a water softener setting that had apparently been wrong since the house was built — clear glassware again, for a small fraction of a replacement.

Sixty-two degrees is not where you want a cabinet of reds sitting, and by then the display had gone dark as well. A power blip earlier that month had cooked the control board; he confirmed that on the first visit, got the correct board, and fitted it a couple of days later. What I appreciated more was that he then set a target temperature our basement can genuinely hold — at 6,200 feet it swings far more than people expect — rather than leaving it on a number that would have the compressor fighting all year.

The griddle on our Wolf had gone from useful to useless, scorching eggs on one pass and barely setting them on the next. He put a meter on it, found the griddle plate thermostat reading well outside its range, and swapped it. Then he checked the oven calibration while he was in there without my asking, which up here matters more than most people realise. The invoice matched the number he gave me before he started, to the dollar.

Every couple of weeks we were chipping a sheet of ice off the freezer floor and mopping up after it. The drain-line heater had failed, so defrost water was refreezing before it ever reached the drain — a genuine part went in and the ice has not come back once since. He also pulled the grille and showed me how much dust a Westridge summer packs into the condenser, which I now vacuum on a schedule.

The humidity control in our undercounter wine drawer stopped regulating and the corks were starting to dry out. I have to be honest about the scheduling: we were given an arrival window twice and both times they turned up well outside it without a phone call, so an afternoon went to waste. The technician himself was excellent — he explained what the humidity module actually does, fitted the replacement, and it has held steady ever since. Good work, but the dispatching needs tightening up.
